Hernán Barrios, director of PymeMad Araucanía, held a working meeting with Henry Leal, regional director of the Production Development Corporation (Corfo) in Temuco, with the purpose of introducing the trade organization and outlining the priorities of the small-scale wood sector in the La Araucanía region.

The meeting allowed for the presentation of the main needs of small and medium-sized wood enterprises, including access to support that facilitates technological renewal, process automation, and the development of products with higher added value, such as wood drying, in order to strengthen the efficiency and competitiveness of the regional industry.

During the session, the raw material supply situation faced by SMEs in the sector, which lack their own forest resources, was also addressed, as well as the need to review currently available promotion instruments to identify those aligned with the reality of the industrial wood sector.

From Corfo's regional directorate, concern was expressed about the sector's situation and special interest in promoting value-added industry, in a context where reconstruction and the promotion of wood construction require ensuring the supply of raw materials for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Both parties agreed to maintain a permanent working channel to articulate potential joint initiatives, while advancing the connection of wood SMEs with public-private committees, academia, and regional development hubs.

Barrios' participation in this instance reaffirms PymeMad's commitment to strengthening the small and medium-sized wood industry, promoting access to promotion instruments and coordination with institutions that drive the competitive and sustainable development of the sector.
