PymeMad was represented by its national vice president, Lorena Vargas, in a meeting with the governor of the Ñuble region, Óscar Crisóstomo Llanos, coordinated together with the Chilean Wood Corporation (CORMA) within the framework of the Futuro Madera network.
The meeting addressed four strategic axes for the development of the forestry-timber sector in the region: wildfire prevention, promotion of plantations for small and medium landowners —with the aim of ensuring the future supply for timber SMEs—, boosting sustainable timber construction for social housing, and promoting the use of sustainable materials like wood in public infrastructure.
"The challenges of Ñuble are shared and require collaborative solutions. Strengthening infrastructure and linking that effort with education and industry is key for the development of the region," stated Vargas.
The meeting with the highest regional authority allowed for highlighting the relevance of the forestry sector as an engine for local economic development and the need for public policies that facilitate the growth of the small and medium timber industry, both in the productive sphere and in sustainable construction.
PymeMad's participation in this instance reaffirms the guild's commitment to influencing regional public policies that benefit Chile's small and medium timber enterprises.
