Michel Esquerré, president of PymeMad Nacional A.G., participated in the 45th plenary session of the Forest Policy Council, an instance where the Minister of Agriculture, Ignacia Fernández, reaffirmed the government's commitment to submitting the Forestry Promotion Bill project to Congress before the end of the current administration.

During the session, which included representatives from the public sector, companies, workers, academia, indigenous peoples, and organizations of small and medium-sized forest owners, a cross-cutting consensus was reached regarding the urgency of having a promotion policy that allows for the reactivation of plantations and confronting the crisis the sector is undergoing.

"We greatly appreciate that the level of urgency has been recognized, not only for our sector as a productive forestry sector, but for society in general. The forestry sector is a pillar of a bioeconomy for the territories," highlighted Esquerré after the meeting.

The president of PymeMad emphasized the importance of generating promotion instruments aimed at small and medium-sized forest owners, who have faced multiple challenges due to fires, drought, and other impacts on their economy. "We see that there is tremendous progress and a concern from this government to generate real promotion for the small and medium owners who are in conflict with monoculture," he stated.

The participation of PymeMad in this high-level instance reaffirms the organization's commitment to the active representation of the small and medium-sized timber business sector in the strategic decisions of the national forestry sphere.
