- Víctor Sandoval concluded his statutory term in the governance of the regional strategic program, making way for CORMA to lead the initiative that promotes modern sustainable timber construction methods.
Víctor Sandoval ended his two-year term as president of Biobío Madera, the Regional Strategic Program for Modern Sustainable Timber Construction Methods (MMC), a period he himself described as "more than a celebration, the fulfillment of a cycle to make way for other entities and continue advancing this program."
The PymeMad representative in the governance of this Corfo initiative highlighted the collaborative work developed during his administration, which enabled significant progress in transforming the forestry-timber industry toward sustainability. "We are very pleased with what we have developed over these two years," Sandoval stated in an interview with the Buena Costumbre radio program on Radio Metropolitan, valuing the program's impact on an ecosystem that spans "from the forest to the actual construction of housing."
As established by the program's statutes, after two years of presidency, an election process was held, leading Margarita Celis, representative of the Chilean Wood Corporation (CORMA), to assume the new presidency. The vice presidency was taken over by Javiera Olate from the Chilean Chamber of Construction in Los Ángeles.
Sandoval emphasized the importance of wood as a building material, not only for its physical qualities but also for its unique ability to sequester carbon, allowing "the construction footprint to be much smaller" and facilitating the fulfillment of the country's environmental commitments. The leader stressed that the forestry-timber sector represents a "highly virtuous ecosystem in terms of job creation and local roots."
From PymeMad, we thank the trust placed in Sandoval during these two years, a period in which the voice of small and medium-sized timber companies had active representation in strategic decisions about the future of sustainable construction in the Biobío region.
