Víctor Sandoval, president of PymeMad Biobío-Ñuble, attended the ceremony where 10 sawmills and construction companies in the region received technological tools for wood quality control, including members of the trade association.

The event, held this Wednesday, November 26th at the Hotel Diego de Almagro in Los Ángeles, marked the conclusion of the FNDR Biobío Program "Training for the competitiveness of forestry and woodworking SMEs for wood construction in the Biobío region," an initiative funded by the Biobío Regional Government and executed by the Wood Technology and Products area of the Forest Institute (INFOR).

During the ceremony, digital calipers and Bluetooth-enabled digital moisture meters, compatible with digital applications developed by INFOR, were delivered. These tools allow for greater standardization and precision in structural sawn wood products.

"Today, digital instruments for measuring wood quality are being delivered. A moisture meter and a caliper, both Bluetooth-enabled, for SME companies in the region," stated Sandoval, highlighting that PymeMad associates were beneficiaries.

The initiative reinforces the implementation of the Structural Wood Labeling Decree, fully in effect in Chile since mid-2024, a regulation that requires verifiable quality standards for the commercialization of wood intended for construction purposes.

The FNDR program, executed between December 2021 and December 2025, aimed to position the Biobío region as a hub for wood construction, coordinating public and private sector actors.

PymeMad Biobío's participation in this event reaffirms the trade organization's commitment to the technical strengthening of small and medium-sized wood enterprises, facilitating their access to technology that improves the quality and competitiveness of their products.
